About me

Born in Northumberland and after living in London for over 20 years I’ve now escaped the city to Scotland.

Photography has been an off/on hobby of mine for several years; I take mostly landscapes which presented some challenges when living in London for so long but for one reason or another I never took to street photography. Probably as London was so busy you felt things were running at 100 miles an hour all the time which does not lend itself to my style of photography.

For me the process of considering the shot content, alternative positions and thinking about what I want from the end image before taking the shot is a relaxing process. Usually I shoot using a tripod and shutter release to deliberately slow the process, all of which not exactly city friendly so I much prefer landscapes and rural locations. That and I enjoy the isolation of some shots, especially on a frosty morning when there is little sign of life aside from me and nature.

For me the final image is just as important as the memory of the experience and location of the shot, especially the feeling I experienced when taking in the view before me – something that’s often difficult to portray in a photo as the person viewing it later will not share that same emotional link

These images are therefore reminders of those moments to me but hopefully some will be enjoyed by others, thanks for visiting my site and taking the time to read this.
